This paperback is Part of of Angam 663 and it chronicles my development throughout my career as a Community Paramedic and how a passion for learning helped me develop my practice for the benefit of colleagues and patients. It has a focus on Mental Health and End of Life issues that ambulance staff were left to deal with after Blairs catastrophic NHS reforms in 2006.
I have included a brief section on how the role of Paramedic originated within the NHS and how its history lies in the determination of a group of GP's in the late 60's to create a GP emergency service later to be called Basics. From this idea grew the concept that if given the right training then ambulance crews could also carry out these skills and with the organisation called Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT) in certain parts of the UK, the impetus grew until in 1989 the role of NHS Paramedic was realised.
