Mader's人體解剖與生理學

《Mader’s人體解剖與生理學》是暢銷多年的經典教科書，更新版承襲前版架構之優點，在每章開頭先以病例帶出章節內容，並穿插解剖與生理學的重點及臨床之相關處，例如骨骼系統之導論，就設計了經常拗手指的關節會不會得關節炎的問題。每一個主題都詳列出學習目標，並在結束時以「內容檢查站」讓讀者測試自己的理解程度。書中專欄「啟動臨床思考」則是讓學生自己作醫師，思考執業時該如何操作，以及「鑑識焦點」、「新鮮事」和「醫療焦點」等專欄收錄了最新醫藥新知，讓內容更貼近臨床實務。這是一本醫護相關科系學生及大眾對解剖生理學有興趣研讀之首選教材。

前言

歡迎閱讀第八版的 Mader’s 人體解剖與生理學 ( Mader’s Understanding Human Anatomy and Physiology)！我又再次進行我所熱愛的主題：一個可以滿足我成為科學家、教育家及開創性藝術家的主題。這本書是我和原作者Sylvia Mader博士一起合作的產物。我們認為，一本介紹美好人體工藝的書必須要有開創性、教育性及精確性；最重要的是和現今學生相關的教科書。這本書的設計適合廣大讀者，不論是準護理及相關的健康領域人士，抑或是只想對身體如何運作有一個清楚及簡單解釋的非科學大眾皆然。我想讓學生在第一次翻開本書時，就能立即吸引他們的興趣。接著，在學習有關人體如何運作的任何新知識時，我都能夠吸引這些讀者的注意力。
 
Mader氏認識人體解剖學和生理學對一個學期的課程來說，一直是一本絕佳的教科書。每個章節的開頭都試圖立即捕捉注意力並刺激好奇心，接著便將讀者帶入更完整的探索中。舉例來說，第6章有關骨骼系統的導論，回答了一個多年來常被問的問題：重複拗指關節的人會不會得關節炎？再者，誰沒有經歷過吃太快非常冰的食物時所造成的「腦袋凍僵」("brain-freeze")？第8章的神經系統導論就在解釋這種現象是如何發生的。歷史同樣可以激起讀者的好奇心。如第4章一開始有關Henrietta Lacks的簡短歷史是一個引人入勝的說明，讀者可藉此瞭解女性的癌細胞對人類的貢獻。第12章中對已退休太空人兼參議員John Glenn的側寫，則讓我們瞭解美國最早期的太空計畫，以及當人們初次進入太空所產生的醫學議題。
 
每一章的學習目標都經過精心建構，俾使先前沒有解剖學和生理學基礎的學生也能瞭解。每一個新段落開始時都會再重複這些學習目標，故讀者絕不會遺漏掉期待學習到的內容。在每一個主題結束時，「內容檢查站」可讓讀者在進入新段落前先測試自己的理解力。同時利用McGraw-Hill Connect®絕佳軟體和此教科書的學生則可得到許多評估方式，以協助他們理解本教科書的學習目標。
 
內文中的「啟動臨床思考」專欄要求學生精確的做到，把自己當作是已經在診所或醫院執業時的思考模式。因為學生必須對章節主題做進一步探討，故每個問題皆可藉此培養出重要的思考技巧。
 
每一章的結論皆涵蓋大量的想法和重點。基礎和應用性的醫學專有名詞練習可以建立一個好用的詞彙，藉以強化理解能力和提升學生的自信。每一章的內容摘要和研讀練習可用來做為核對清單，以確保重要的概念已瞭解透徹。最後，透過「研讀練習」編寫簡短的筆記，然後經由練習「學習成果問題」中的簡單問答題 (配合、是非、多重選擇題等等)，學生便可以自我測驗。

我很享受這世上最棒的工作 (身為一個生物科學教師) 將近30年。每個學期的新學生都會教我一些東西，且「我每天都會學到一些新事物」這句古諺依舊是真理。每天身處課堂上可以協助我瞭解學生的思考方式，以及世界上正在發生的事。我一直利用真實的例子和類比以創造出描述一個概念的策略。我的目的是和教師及學生透過本書一起分享一些工作上的想法。在引人入勝的研究人體時，我知道這本教科書可以協助身為教師的你，在學生著迷於探究人體時，可用來吸引他們並讓他們感到興奮。
