Early chapters review the epidemiology of cutaneous wounds, the biology of wound healing, and wound assessment. Later chapters describe anesthesia, dressings, and antibiotics, as well as wound closure devices such as surgical staples and adhesives, sutures and needles, and basic suturing and tissue handling techniques. Eight subsequent chapters deal with different types of wounds, such as animal bites, puncture wounds, and skin ulcers. The final chapter covers postoperative care of wounds.
