After a historical review (pre-1980) of study involving the magnetospheric boundary layers and the low-latitude boundary layer, 37 contributions address topics such as the formation of LLBL, its role as a plasma source and sink, and the relationship between the LLBL and the aurora and other ionospheric phenomena.
