商品簡介

Kleinberg (history, Brunel U., UK) et al. compile 17 essays on American women's history, arguing that the inclusion of women in the historical record has changed over time and therefore, so has the practice of history. Chapters are organized chronologically, from early America to the present. Topics discussed include slavery, the political interactions between European and Native Americans, and gender roles in the American Revolution, as well as women's labor, the experiences of Chinese American and immigrant women, the suffrage movement, and African American women and the modern black freedom struggle. The volume originated in a conference held in London in 2001, Re-Visioning US Women's History, which brought together history and women's studies scholars from the US and UK to consider the impact of women's and gender history on US history, as well as major themes and new directions in the field.
