The Blog: Bad Time for Poetry, August 24, 2007 - May 25, 2009

President Barack Obama has called for a "New Era of Responsibility" as America and the world look for solutions to the most serious economic crisis since the Great Depression. This crisis offers a great moment of opportunity to fix the root cause of the issues that got us here. We can do it without blaming politics, free enterprise, or government bureaucracies. Let's be honest about this root cause---after all, it's common knowledge: human behavior causes the problems and human behavior has the potential to fix them. Specifically, people's irresponsible behavior usually causes the problems and people's responsible behavior usually fixes the problems.

In a recent survey, people were asked to describe human behavior in today's environment. Only 15 percent of participants saw current human behavior shifting toward responsibility, while 85 percent saw human behavior shifting toward irresponsibility. Yet, there has not been a sense of urgency to develop a process to reverse this shift until now. Dr. Joseph A. Williams' Human CABLE System™ (HCS) is that process. His artwork is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Museum der bildenden Kunste Leipzig and others. He served as Associate Professor of Art at Pomona College and the Claremont Graduate University. He was awarded the Anderson Ranch National Artist Award and is a Visiting Presidential Professor at the University of Nebraska.
