Effective Teacher = Student Achievement ─ What the Research Says

One of a series of volumes by Stronge (educational policy, planning, and leadership, College of William and Mary) on the subject of teacher effectiveness and student performance, this work makes the argument that teacher effectiveness is the central factor determining student success. He explores the relationship between teacher effectiveness and student success through the value-added teacher assessment research that has emerged in recent years. This research aims to separate out the influence of the teacher on student performance from other influences using statistical methods such as hierarchical linear modeling or the mixed model method developed by William Sanders called the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System.
