The New Walford Guide to Reference Resources: Social Sciences

From 1959 to 2000, various editions and volumes of Walford's Guide to Reference Material, published by the (Brit) Library Association Publishing (now named Facet Publishing), earned the distinction of being cited in Books for College Libraries, 3d ed. and Guide to Reference Material. Mysteriously, RCL, (Resources for College Libraries) cites only v.1 of the 1996 edition; this may be an artefact of Books in Print where, in the online edition are listed various editions of Walford from 2000 to 2006, but not this v.2. Here, therefore, is the ninth edition of a classic that must be available in every serious library.The New Walford now includes evaluations and listings of an extensive range of e-reference sources such as digital databanks, digital reference services, electronic journal collections, meta-search engines, networked information services, open archives, resource discovery services, and Web sites of prominent organizations in both the public and private sectors.
