Forging Alliances in Community and Thought

Nineteen papers are presented by Guadarrama (curriculum and instruction, U. of Houston), Ramsey (science education, U. of Houston), and Nath (urban education, U. of Houston) as a representative sample of current research on impact of professional development schools in the realm of teacher education. Most of the contributions primarily address progressive, educational reform efforts of which university and school partnerships and professional development schools are the centerpieces. After surveying the theoretical paradigms of the movement, the bulk of the papers present profiles of initiatives from around the United States taking place in a variety of contexts.
