Nations in Transit 2011 ─ Democratization from Central Europe to Eurasia

This volume reports on the democratization progress, or lack thereof, of 29 countries ranging geographically from central Europe to central Asia during the calendar year of 2010, and updates the previous volumes which began in 1995. The contributors are experts on the particular countries they analyze. The reports are in essay format beginning alphabetically with Albania and ending with Uzbekistan, and each considers national democratic governance, electoral process, civil society, independent media, local democratic governance, judicial framework and independence, and corruption. A chapter on the methodology used for the study is provided along with a series of tables illustrating yearly data fluctuations in the above mentioned categories.
