In this book for professionals, cognitive therapists Zweig and Leahy present a 20-session treatment plan for working with clients with bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder. The first chapter sketches a rationale for using cognitive-behavioral treatment for these clients. The authors then describe bulimia nervosa in cognitive-behavioral terms, discuss the use of psychotropic medication, and offer guidelines on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. The authors' 20-session treatment plan offers ideas on motivation and socialization to treatment, interventions for body image and behavioral change, and tips on relapse prevention and treatment resistance. A case example is extended over the entire 20 sessions. In the final chapter, the authors offer advice on treatment within the managed care context. The book's appendix provides forms, surveys, and assessment instruments. Zweig directs Union Square Cognitive Therapy. Leahy teaches psychology at Weill Cornell Medical College. 作者簡介
Rene D. Zweig, PhD, is Director of Union Square Cognitive Therapy, a full-time private practice in New York City. Previously, she directed the Eating Disorders and Weight Management Program at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Zweig is Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.
Robert L. Leahy, PhD, is Director of the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy in New York City and Clinical Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is the author or editor of numerous books on cognitive therapy and psychological processes and is Past President of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, and the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Leahy is a recipient of the Aaron T. Beck Award for Sustained and Enduring Contributions to Cognitive Therapy.
