Bodily Expression in Electronic Music：Perspectives on Reclaiming Performativity

Thinkers and artists gathered in Graz, Austria in 2009 to share poetic perspectives of a variety of music and dance practitioners, and a multidisciplinary range of intellectual perspectives, particularly those of music aesthetics, theory, sociology, philosophy of dance and interactive performance arts, philosophy of mind, and phenomenology. The presentations, responses, and discussions have been refined and integrated into 13 essays on such topics as what disembodied music would even be, multimodal expression and haptic illusions in the virtual sonic environment, Isabel Mundry's Ich und Du and the elusiveness of musical meaning, two kinds of physicality in electronic and traditional music, and embodied generative music.
