The Reception of Virginia Woolf in Europe

Part of a series dedicated to examining how the works of individual British writers were received in Europe, this volume collects 18 reception studies concerned with Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), author of Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, Orlando, and A Room of One's Own. The papers survey Woolf's reception in France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. One paper examines the European dimensions of Hogarth Press, the publishing house founded in 1917 by Woolf and her husband Leonard, which published works by the Bloomsbury Group, the intellectual group of writers that revolved around Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, E.
