Male and Female Circumcision

A host of international scientists and activists present their research and analysis of the world-wide issue of child circumcision from medical, ethical, and legal points of view. The authors are all particularly concerned, not strictly with the physical ramifications of circumcision, but with the human rights violations they see in the removal of healthy tissue from a person unable to give consent for these actions. Articles include discussions of the physiology of the genital tissue, religious and cultural considerations, psychological ramifications, and legal and ethical issues. Several articles deal with the process of foreskin restoration of circumcised males, and another section details the work of the campaign to end genital mutilation. Annotation c.
