A French historian specializing in early Christian Africa, Decret wrote Le Christianisme en Afrique du Nord Ancienne, published by Seuil in Paris in 1996. The English translation by Smither (church history and intercultural studies, Liberty U.) was published in 2009 by Wipf and Stock. After setting out the geographical and historical background, it proceeds through such stages as the origin of the African church, Cyprian the "pope" of Carthage, the Donastist schism and the division of African Christianity, Augustine of Hippo and the glory of the Great Church, and the final stages from the Vandal invasion to the Arab Maghreb. 作者簡介
About the Author: Francois Decret holds a PhD in History and is a recognized authority on early Christianity in North Africa. He has taught at the Universities of Oran (Algeria), Lyon (France), Antilles-Guyane (Caribbean), and the University of Latran (Rome).
