Promoting Social Cohesion ─ Implications for Policy and Evaluation

Of the relatively small number of key concepts informing British national social policy, community cohesion has assumed a pre-eminent role over the past decade. Practitioners and researchers of national and local government evaluate the theoretical and substantive arguments for moving from community cohesion to the broader notion of social cohesion, then look at the implications of such a shift for policy and evaluation. Such a shift would place more emphasis on material inequalities, for example, so the procedures for evaluating success would need to be adjusted. Distributed in the US by ISBS.
