Essential Reading Skills

McWhorter's (Niagara County Community College) fourth edition textbook is designed for use in a basic reading course to introduce students to textbook learning aids and the foundations of college reading, as they begin their studies in higher education. The significantly revised edition includes much new material including an overall introduction; chapter sections on textbook design features as learning tools; a chapter on effective reading skills; practical keys to success in writing, math, and content courses; sample readings from various academic disciplines; lists of chapter learning goals; interactive chapter summaries; and information on evaluating internet sources.
