Wali van Lohuizen has specialized in New Testament studies for over ten years. As a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and of the European Association for Biblical Studies, he has participated in congresses of both organizations and has read numerous papers at these meetings. Formerly, he has been a social scientist, urban planner, and geographer. He has functioned as a university professor at Eindhoven Technological University, and as a research director in the TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research).
