Autobiographical Writings on Mexico

Woods (Spanish, Trinity U., San Antonio, Texas) presents a followup to his 1988 work, Mexican Autobiography: An Annotated Bibliography (Greenwood Press). The text has grown from the original 300 to some 1,900 entries of writing by Mexicans and foreigners, including peasants, women, servants, revolutionaries, painters, writers, singers, journalists, and politicians. The text contains entries for autobiographies, memoirs, collections of letters, diaries, oral autobiographies, interviews, and autobiographical novels and essay written between 1691 and 2003. Each entry includes author, title, place of publication, publisher, date of publication, number of pages, genre, life dates of the author, the period covered by the narrative, and a brief annotation to alert the user to the cultural and informational potential of the work. English translations of the Spanish are also noted. The text includes a chronological listing of the works, and is also indexed by author, title and subject.
