The Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method for Electromagnetics With MATLAB Simulations

This book/CD-ROM graduate-level text presents fundamental techniques of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method as applied to engineering electromagnetics, taking readers from conceptual understanding to actual program development. Concepts are introduced through a top-down software design approach that links theoretical concepts with program development and helps in constructing an FDTD simulation tool. The construction of final equations is presented with a detailed step- by-step approach, accompanied by 3D illustrations and MATLAB codes. In most cases, a full set of equations are provided. The chapters are presented in such a way that, by adding and developing a new part of code in each chapter, by the end of the book a well-developed FDTD simulation package will be constructed. The CD-ROM contains MATLAB M- files for programming examples in the book, and includes all of the book's 3D illustrations in color. The text can be used as a text in graduate courses in computational electromagnetics. No previous experience with finite-difference methods is assumed.
