Interpretation, Revision and Other Recourse from International Judgments and Awards

Although in place and functioning for some time, it was not until the 1980s the Permanent Court of International Justice and the International Court of Justice entered into extremely significant interpretations. Since then the complex pattern of interpretations and the complex political and cultural makeup of the judges have forced politics into the mix, making the close tie behind the final decision and the highly political context of the obligation to comply with it continually tense. This is the first in a new series examining such debated cases, and it focuses on major themes of the decisions across time, such as in this case the intention to act by law if there is no obvious miscarriage of justice.
