Evolving Practice in EU Enlargement

Inglis presents a selective, simplified, and updated version of her doctoral thesis at the U. of Ghent, entitled European Union Enlargement: Pre-accession and Transitional Arrangements with Case Studies in Agri-food and Environmental Law, incorporating the comments of the professors that promoted and judged the thesis. She first examines the legal implications of EU pre-accession and accession treaty practices, with a focus on the fifth and sixth Accession Treaties of 2003 and 2005. She then addresses the legal implications for environmental and agri-food law of the pre-accession strategy and transitional arrangements provided for in the fifth and sixth Accession Treaties. Kirstyn Inglis qualified as a Scottish solicitor in 1990 and moved to Brussels to specialise in European law. Later, she shifted into academic research, defending her PhD thesis at Ghent University (2006). She is now Post-doc Research Fellow (FWO) there.
