The Globalization of NATO

At the end of the Cold War, many saw the continued existence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as an anachronism, but with the interventions in the Balkans in the 1990s, the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, the expansion of membership into the Eurasian heartland, and the bombing of Libya in 2011, it is clear that NATO is determined to expand both its membership and its mandate.
