Encyclopedia of Tudor England

Intended for high school and college students, and general readers, this three-volume reference contains roughly 900 entries averaging 600-700 words in length. The scope encompasses people, events, ideas, and terms relating to Britain and Ireland between the accession of Henry VII in 1485, and the death of his granddaughter Elizabeth I in 1603. Entries are arranged alphabetically and include references and cross references. About two-thirds are revised and edited versions of material from two earlier ABC-CLIO publications (Bosworth Field to Bloody Mary: An Encyclopedia of the Early Tudors (2003) and the Historical Dictionary of the Elizabethan World: Britain, Ireland, Europe, and American (1999). New entries (which are signed, unlike the previously published entries) were written by the editors or contributing scholars.
