English summary: Concerning research into the culture of the island of Crete, the Bronze Age phase of development has clearly stood in the foreground until recent times. At first gradually one was aware that the other periods were as important from a cultural historical perspective as this period. The current volume contains besides the results of excavations and scholarly contributions, which address the recollection of the Minoan legacy, connections to the orient, the development of the polis, the practice of writing, religion and myths as well as artistic production. German description: Bei der Erforschung der Kultur der Insel Kreta standen bis in die jungere Zeit hinein die bronzezeitlichen Entwicklungsphasen deutlich im Vordergrund. Erst allmahlich machte man sich bewusst, wie kulturhistorisch wichtig auch die anderen Epochen waren. Der vorliegende Band enthalt neben Grabungsergebnissen und Beitragen, die sich mit der Ruckbesinnung auf das minoische Erbe, den Beziehungen zum Orient, der Entstehung der Polis, dem Schriftgebrauch, der Religion und den Mythen sowie der Kunstproduktion beschaftigten.
