The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) has been used in the past to measure the role of "inner motivation" as it relates to the entrepreneurial successes of urban, educated males in India. In this study, Wadhera and Koreth utilize the TAT to explore correlations between inner motivation and the entrepreneurial successes/failures of a group of poor, illiterate, rural women living in Rajasthan, India, and participating in an agency-supported micro-enterprise initiative. The study offers a model with the potential to assist India in helping a large number of rural people to improve their standard of living and quality of life. Wadhera is a consultant to the government of Delhi, India, on developing citizen's partnership with the government on a citywide basis; Koreth advises the Delhi government on building and sustaining a citywide citizen's partnership in good governance.
