"In recent years, so many instruments have been drafted that it has become difficult to find one's way in the labyrinth of international criminal law treaties. The present collection is meant to guide students and practitioners through this labyrinth," states Van den Wyngaert (judge at the ICC) in her foreword. With some exceptions selections were made within constraints of time (the period after WWII), space (universal and European instruments), and form (no draft conventions; no treaties). Arrangement begins with general human rights instruments, followed by international criminal court; the international criminal code; a selection of international crimes (e.g. aggression, genocide, money laundering, child pornography); new to this edition, coverage of EU instruments that focus on organizing domestic criminal procedures; and international co-operation in criminal matters. Christine Van den Wyngaert is a judge at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. She served as a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (2003 – 2009) and as an ad hoc judge at the International Court of Justice (2000 - 2002). She was a professor of law at the University of Antwerp and holds honorary doctoral degrees from the Universities of Uppsala and Brussels. Steven Dewulf holds a PhD from the Law Faculty of the University of Antwerp. He specialises in international and European criminal law, international humanitarian law and human rights law.
