Rather than being naively optimistic about the rise of major countries in the South such as China, India and Brazil, the book focuses on development and social inequality in the emerging societies. Each chapter focuses on development and social inequality in emerging societies and, set within the context of 21st century globalization - in marked contrast to 20th century globalization - the book develops this phase of globalization as a theme.
作者簡介
JAN NEDERVEEN PIETERSE is Mellichamp Professor of Global Studies and Sociology, University of California Santa Barbara, USA, and University of Maastricht, the Netherlands. He has published extensively on globalization, development studies and cultural studies. His publications include: Ethnicities and Global Multiculture: Pants for an Octopus;Globalization or Empire?; Globalization and Culture: Global Melange and Development Theory: Deconstructions/Reconstructions.
BOIKE REHBEIN is Director of the Global Studies Program at University of Freiburg, Germany. He has publishedwidely on Southeast Asia, Bordieu and Globalization.
