This collection of twelve essays on race, religion and politics in America examines the fluid interaction between these cultural spheres and explores the way in which this multi-part discourse has shaped the American experience through several historical periods. The work is divided into sections covering the historical foundations of race-religion interaction, the active political effects of the dialog, and current directions in the race-religion discussion. Individual essays address such topics as religion and race in the constitutional period, Latino religion and its political ramifications, and the status of South Asians in post 9/11 America.
