商品簡介

Social scientists mostly from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland but also elsewhere in Eastern and Western Europe report the findings of a five-year research project on the link between democracy and the functioning of the European Union. In particular, they investigate changes in established identities in the old and new European Union member states, and offer theoretical reflections on new processes in identity construction and reconstruction. Among the topics are democracy and identity in Europe after enlargement, Turkish elite perceptions of the European project, urbanity and identity in Poland after accession, the European identity of Polish pendulum migrants, and homophobia in Central and Eastern Europe. The volume begins a new series. Annotation c2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
