Father Involvement in Canada—Diversity, Renewal, and Transformation

Editors Ball (University of Victoria) and Daly (University of Guelph) gather Canadian contributors in psychology, law, social work, and human development to highlight scholarship on father involvement in Canada over the past 10 years. Many of the studies in the book illustrate different approaches to partnership, collaboration, and engagement as part of conducting community-based research. After an overview of father involvement in Canada and recent demographic trends and research, part 2 demonstrates the diversity of fathering experiences, with material on topics such as Aboriginal fathers in Canada and fathers of children with chronic health conditions. Part 3 looks at policy and practice issues, such as parental leave polices. The book is an outgrowth of an eight-year research project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and its Community-University Research Alliances program.
