Ethical Practice in Early Childhood

Ioanna Palaiologou (early childhood studies and research student support, Centre for Educational Studies in the U. of Hull, UK) and ten contributors have compiled a practical and detailed guide for those involved with ethical decisions, education and research with children. The text has two parts (ethical issues in research and ethical issues in policy and practice), and twelve chapters. Part one discusses ethics involving young children in research, research tools, children with special needs, vulnerable groups, and other cultures. Part two includes detailed information about ethics in regards to policy, multi-agency working, loss, bereavement, studying the early years, safeguarding young children, inspecting early years practice, and leadership in early years setting. Chapters include an overview, group activities, conclusions and summary, key points, discussion and reflection, further reading, and useful websites. The text also includes a list of abbreviations.
