Frequency Effects in Language Learning and Processing

This is the first of two volumes compiling papers from sessions at a conference on corpus linguistics in Liverpool, and another on cognitive linguistics in Berkeley, both in the summer of 2009. They contribute to the contemporary research on frequency effects at the interface of cognitive linguistics and usage-based linguistics with corpus linguistics and psycholinguistics. Eight papers here consider such topics as initial fricative reduction in Spanish, relative frequency effects in Russian morphology, frequency effects and transitional probabilities in first and second language speakers' processing of multiword expressions, and corpus and experimental data on the zero auxiliary interrogation in British English.
