Designed Ecologies

Educated at Harvard and now affiliated with Peking U., China and with his firm Turenscape, Kongjian Yu is an eminent landscape architect whose projects are founded on a broad, ecological vision, supremely sensitive to how designed landscapes function for people and the natural environment. Among his most acclaimed projects are Houtan Park for Shanghai Expo, the Red Ribbon Park in Qinhuangdao, and Shipyard Park in Zhongshan. This oversize volume (9.25x12") documents 22 projects in captioned color photos and presents 11 essays by an international roster of contributors who discuss his work and its context and implications.
