Seals, Sealings and Tokens from Gandhara

The first in a promised series that will catalog this impressive collection, this thoughtfully produced, authoritative volume contains a complete catalog of the approximately 1500 Gandharan seals, sealings and tokens in the Aman ur Rahman Collection, written by the collector and specialist Harry Falk. The material has been grouped thematically, with an entry for each object that includes color photos of the object's face, obverse, and side view; dimensions; description of the materials and image; and inscription, when present, with English translation. In addition to the lengthy initial essay, a short introductory text is provided for each category and subcategory. A section of comparative material is included, also presented in color plates.
