Reading Complex Words

Contributions to an American Education Research Association symposium in the late 1990s are joined by invited papers from psychologists around the world to describe research designed to illuminate how mental representations of morphologically complex words are accessed in reading. Among the research questions they address are the contribution of morphological awareness to children's reading success, the locus of morphological representations in the hierarch of mental representations between form and meaning levels, the role of semantics in processing polymorphic words, and the role of morphology in reading aloud.
