Thin-Film Compound Semiconductor Photovoltaics ― 2007：VOLUME1012

Gessert (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) presents papers from an April 2007 symposium on thin-film solar cells and materials. Work described reflects developments at the nano-scale, device scale, and the mega- and giga-watt power generating scale. Papers are in sections on the growth and performance of compound thin film solar cells, novel materials and processes, defects and impurities, industrial perspectives, contacts and interfaces, grain boundaries and inhomogeneities, and structural, optical, and electronic characterization. Some specific topics discussed include metastable defect distribution in CIGS solar cells and their impact on device efficiency, industrial production of thin film CdTe PV modules, grain sizes and grain boundaries of chalcopyrite-type thin films, quantum efficiency measurements to deduce non-ideal solar-cell features, and electron-backscatter diffraction of photovoltaic thin films.
