The papers in this volume were first presented at British School at Rome workshops held to present findings from the Tiber Valley Project, which was undertaken to examine the changing landscapes on both sides of the Tiber from 1000 BC to AD 1300. The essays, which are written in English and Italian, address three general themes: approaches to rural settlement; urbanism and production; and exchange and communication networks. Their specific topics include city, territory and metropolis in the Tiber Valley; a new study of Forum Novum; and the economic exploitation of mineral resources in the Valley.
