Continuing changes initiated with the 2010 issue of HYIL, the 2011 issue was compiled by an expanded editorial board with a new approach. The Yearbook devotes attention to developments in institutions based in The Hague and, in addition, extends its scope to offer a platform for contributions (in French or English) pertaining to the broader field of international law. Seventeen contributions are presented in three sections addressing private international law, public international law, and international investment law and arbitration. A sampling of topics: rediscovering the pubic dimension of private international law, Asser's vision and an evolving mission, terrorism and the non-state actor in the 2011 Interlocutory Decision of the Appeals Chamber of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and treaty shopping through corporate restructuring of investments.
