Taking an integrated approach to cognitive neuroscience, this is essential reading for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students and researchers. Offering original insight through its unique structure, it explains why we need to understand the brain in order to understand psychology.
作者簡介
LEON KENEMANS is a full professor of Biopsychology and Psychopharmacology at Utrecht University, in the departments of Experimental Psychology and Psychopharmacology. He lectures in Biological Foundations of Behavior, Cognitive Neuroscience, Drugs& Behavior, and Neurobiology of Memory and Attention. His main interests are attention and affective processes, and action control, in particular their neurobiological, pathological, and pharmacological aspects. Recent publications concern the exact effects of methylphenidate on neural correlates of action control (in relation to ADHD); the role of the cannabinoid-1 receptor in working memory; and the effects of varying doses of alcohol on the human ability to detect unexpected events.
NICK RAMSEY is full professor of Cognitive Neuroscience in the Division of Neuroscience at the University Medical Hospital of Utrecht, and is professor of Cognitive Neuroimaging in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Utrecht. He lectures in Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques and methodology for cognitive neuroscience. He conducts research on mechanisms of human brain function, on advanced techniques and methodologies of imaging brain function, on development of implantable Brain-Computer interfaces in paralyzed people, on plasticity in brain function in people with brain disorders such as tumors and epilepsy, and on effects of drugs of abuse on brain function and neural networks. His main mission is to elucidate the neurophysiological underpinnings of human cognition, using high-field MRI systems and EEG recording from electrodes implanted in the brain. He also aims to translate neuroscientific insights to treatment solutions for patients with brain disorders, and for that purpose combines research in animals and in humans, with patient care.
