Paul and His Social Relations

This collection of scholarly essays is part of a Pauline studies series, which in this iteration looks at St. Paul's social relations. They consider Paul's socio-historical, historical-textual, ecclesial, and linguistic relations to a variety of biblical actors. There is no organization to the text beyond its titular focus. Issues taken up include Pauline individualism, the relationship between Paul and Luke, the significance of references to Christians in Paul's writing, the Christ pattern for social relationships, and more. There are two indexes, one for modern and ancient sources, making for more efficient referencing. The contributors are theological scholars from around the world. Stanley E. Porter, Ph.D. (1988), University of Sheffield, is President and Dean, and Professor of New Testament, at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Besides editing the PAST series, he has published numerous monographs and edited nearly eighty volumes on a range of studies in New Testament, Greek language and linguistics, and especially Pauline studies.Christopher D. Land, Ph.D.cand., McMaster Divinity College, is Assistant Professor of New Testament and Linguistics at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His research is oriented towards Paul's life and language, with a particular interest being the Corinthian correspondence.
