Reaction and Resistance

How is the response to the ideology of second-wave feminism different from that of the first, and how has this response translated to law and policy within institutions? The contributors of nine extended essays (including an able introduction) examine representations of feminism and antiracism, criminal law and the campus as sexual terrains, and the tension between familial identities and neo-liberal reforms. Specific topics include the treatment of feminism and equity in the media, men's "rights' and feminists' "wrongs" in cyberspace, imperial longings and feminist responses in the print media's representations of nationhood after 9/11, sexualized violence and law reform in an atmosphere of neo-liberal sexual citizenship, the evolution of campus sexual harassment regimes, fathers' rights and family catastrophes in post-separation parenting, child-centered advocacy and the invisibility of women in poverty discourse and social policy, and responses to the legal recognition of same-sex relationships.
