Not the sort or rather the size of handbook to carry around and have at hand, but a massive reference that can anchor the bookshelf when it is not being consulted. Over a hundred scholars from a wide range of American universities outline the field by looking at its conceptual frameworks, empirically grounded constructs, intervention strategies and tactics, social systems, design, assessment and analysis, cross-cutting professional issues, and contemporary intersections with community psychology. Though the chapters are all inter-related, each can be read on its own by readers who want to learn about a particular area with which they are not familiar. The information and insights should be of interest to students and practitioners in any work environment, and to both researchers and practitioners a distinction community psychologists tend to eschew anyway.
