A group of Crossed plague survivors off the Scottish coast defend their isolated island and pretend that they are safe from the gleeful violent misery of the Crossed. Shaky has manipulated his fellow castaways into sending him away from the faux safety of the camp and into the ravages of the Crossed world. His desire to be rid of the infighting and petty squabbling puts him in a much deadlier world but his ultimate goals go beyond the survival and denial of those living on the Coast of Cava. This is his story, the search for meaning in in a world filled with homicidal maniacs. There is no hope. There’s only the Crossed. Simon Spurrier, a British author of comic booksand novels, first began writing professionally in 2001. He contributedextensively to the library of respected UK publisher 2000 AD, including theirflagship comic book series Judge Dredd, Harry Kipling, Lobster Random, and TheSimping Detective. He also wrote several novels set in the 2000 AD andWarhammer 40,000 story continuities. With the debut of his creator-owned seriesGutsville in 2007, Spurrier began to work in the American comic book market,predominantly on such Marvel Comics properties as Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider,and X-Men. In 2011, Spurrier launched two web comics through Avatar Press, themodern fantasy Disenchanted and Crossed: Wish You Were Here, his take on the onthe popular horror franchise (CrossedComic.com).
