Clifton (theology, Alphacrucis College, Sydney, Australia) applies academic methods of analysis to the movement in which he is a member, teacher, and ordained minister. He explores Pentecostal ecclesiology; the evolution from faith missions in the 1800s to churches in the 1930s; the formation of a democratized national fellowship from the 1930s to the 1960s; growth, controversy, and revolution since then; and looking forward and thinking globally. Shane Clifton, PhD. (2005) in Theology, Australian Catholic University, is Academic Dean and Lecturer in Theology at Alphacrucis College in Sydney. He is editor of the Australasian Pentecostal Studies journal, and co-author of Globalization and the Mission of the Church.
