These policies are set to have a disproportionate impact not only on demand for female labour but also on access to services to support working mothers and on demands for women to substitute for cutbacks through unpaid domestic labour; while they are largely being enacted without reference to the notion of gender mainstreaming, indicating the limited embeddedness of commitments to gender equality despite commitments to this principle by the EU from 1995 onwards.
This volume constitutes the first attempt to identify the true impact of the economic crisis and the subsequent sovereign debt crisis on women, particularly in relation to gender equality in employment and welfare systems in OECD countries while analysing these current experiences within an updated framework for understanding women’s vulnerability to recession and austerity.
作者簡介
Maria Karamessini is Associate Professor of Labour Economics and Economics of the Welfare State, Deputy Head of the Department of Social Policy and Director of the Centre for Gender Studies at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens, Greece.
Jill Rubery is Professor of Comparative Employment Systems and Deputy Director for Human Resources and Head of People in the Management and Organisations Division at Manchester Business School, UK.
