New Approaches to Eu Foreign Policy

The EU foreign policy had existed as the European Political Cooperation with only a limited political leverage and rather symbolic institutional underpinnings, but this has been rapidly changing characterised by a growing institutional apparatus and increasing responsibility and demand for action.

This book examines new approaches to the EU’s foreign policy that address the rapidly changing character of the European Union, presenting the newest theoretical perspectives and dealing with novel empirical developments. Rather than simply considering structural changes and changes in the agency of the EU, it aims to study the new complexity in the CFSP/EU foreign policy. The authors offer new empirical studies dealing with such aspects including power delegation to the Commission, EU diplomacy, parliamentarisation/constitutionalisation and committees’ involvement in foreign policy process.

Making important contributions to both theoretical and empirical debates, this book will be of interest to students and scholars of European politics, European foreign policy and European integration.
