The subject of this book is the appropriation of divine life in Cyril of Alexandria as set forth in his New Testament biblical commentaries. Cyril's writings are punctuated by what may be called a 'narrative of divine life'. Through this narrative, Cyril links the inter-Trinitarian life of God to the human reception of that life through the Incarnate Word and in the Spirit. By tracing this narrative from the appearance of divine life in the Incarnate Word to its full appropriation to/by the human race, this study aims to present a comprehensive account of sanctification and divinization in Cyril.
