Experimental Approaches to Conservation Biology

Environmental and biological researchers from around the world present a selection of current case studies relevant to protecting world biodiversity that illustrate issues in both basic and applied experimental biology, at a level accessible to students and non scientists as well as active researcher. The also want to raise the visibility of organism-centered experimentation as a valid and useful approach to conservation biology, and to narrow the gap that divides researchers from managers and policymakers charged with protecting biodiversity. The 18 selected papers were to be presented a September 2001 conference in Los Angeles, but some were not delivered because air traffic was closed and authors could not reach Los Angeles.
