商品簡介

In this accessible book divided into bite-size chapters, DePaoli explores the world of Mexican female screenwriters, with its double marginalization along the dimensions of sex and art form. The first half undertakes historical evaluation of Mexican screenplay, feminine archetypes, and their intersection. The fluxional nature of the screenplay form as well as the narrow stereotyping of women seen in Mexican literature are emphasized. The second half interviews six female Mexican screenwriters in four chapters, with each interview focusing on a different topic: women pioneers in Mexican cinema, melodrama, political censorship, and collective screenwriting.
